Integration of the Dental Microscope in Oral Surgery

Surgery is the dental specialty where clinician need more experience and resources when using the microscope. Despite this, surgeons will take advantage of the microscope as any other specialist will do.

Even though surgeons won´t use the highest levels of magnification as often as other professionals, other benefits of microscopic vision such as illumination, visual access and the perfect control of our instruments under a privileged vision constitute essential tools to perform the high accuracy techniques of current oral surgery.

Besides this, the use of a microscope will strongly affect the outcome of our surgical procedures. Today, there are high operator sensitive to technique surgical procedures where the microscope is a big help to achieve the best result, like those related to periodontal plastic surgery for example. Others can be considered strict microscopic surgical techniques, where the outcome and last of the treatment dramatically changes weather they have been done with a microscope or not, like endodontic microsurgery.

In this course you will improve your microscopic resources in terms of approaches, visual access, 4 hands work, spatial orientation and visual guided movements of specific instruments.

Our main goal is that the students know deeply the clinical benefits of using a microscope. How to use it in order to approach our patients reaching the visual access we need in each clinical procedure and decide which is the microscope configuration that meets our student´s clinical needs.

In other words, we give our students all the knowledge and expertise they will need to immediately apply it in their daily clinical workflow.
